How does study abroad work?

do you guys have a basic break down of what our first year courses will be ?

Do many OT students choose to do a minor? If so which are most common?

Will someone help us sign up for first year classes?

You do not need to get a minor but IF you decide you can usually choose to get it in Global Public Health, psychology, biology, and other (business, sociology if you bring in any credits)

Which AP credits are typically counted in the OT curriculum?

We will help you not only with the first year courses but we will help you all along the way!

If I took and passed English 101 this year during senior year, will the credits transfer?

Yes Jessie you can receive credit for a college level English class taken in high school

do Uconn ECE credit count too?

Yes Samantha they do

I passed my ap Spanish exam with the score Quinnipiac requires, do you recommend I take the placement test still?

Lauren I don't think you need to unless you want to continue with Spanish

I do plan on continuing I wanted to minor in it

Are internships offered to OT students?

If we get a 4 or 5 on an AP math exam, should we still take the placement exam as it is a part of the OT curriculum?

Would a 4 or 5 on an AP math exam count for one of the math courses in the curriculum or would AP credits only count for elective classes?

Josie we have you do fieldwork experiences starting your junior year each semester as well as additional 3 month fieldwork experiences - much like internships - we place you all around the country - we have hubs in Houston and Las Vegas

Aside from these fieldwork experiences we also have tons of opportunities to get involved on and off campus to strengthen your skills and have fun

Just to touch on the fieldwork experiences- Having gone through all level 1’s at this point, the department makes sure you get a bit of everything from acute care to outpatient to pediatrics. I feel that the fieldwork set up has made me a well-rounded soon to be entry level OT, with a bit of experience in each practice area!

Should we already know who our advisors are?

We have to take the English placement exam as well, correct?

We assign advisors in the summer

If we aren’t in person for orientation, will there still be people leading us through choosing classes and such?

How many OT students will be in the class of 2024?

About 80-90 OT students

Our lab sections are about 12 students and classes 25-30 per section
