If one has an ancestor who emigrated to the U.S. from the West of Ireland at the time of James Hack Tuke's emigration scheme, how might we find out if there was, indeed, a connection? I ask because my great-grandmother was from a village outside Clifden.
To add to Gerard's comment Rosemarie and Geraldine Mills both gave a talk to launch our Heritage and Historical Society it was a a great evening and a very fitting way to launch our Society
where did those who were part of the emigration scheme end up? what area of the US or Canada?
Hi Jane wonderful presentation
Ann E. Arnold
Rosemary, what is your website address?
www.oughterardheritage.org our email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
Great discussion this afternoon. Can Gerry comment on the importance of Tuke's work and influence on the Balfour brothers in setting up the Congested Districts Board in 1891 which did quite a lot to help cottiers in the very poor areas of the West of Ireland in the 1890s.
How well did Tuke and Balfour get along?
I am also a Tuke descendant-- my grandmother was on the Nestorian in 1883. Greetings to Rosemary. We met when my friend and I visited in 2018.
link for Rosemarie’s website please?
There are databases on the www.clifdenheritage.org

Question for Jane. There were Irish loggers in western Wisconsin as well as in Minnesota. Have you come across any documentation regarding ancestors and employability?
Has anyone traced Truke’s own descendants?
Is that Camus, Ros Muc?
Love your story, LEslie!
My JCU student researchers and I are grateful to Diane Heveran Rothaar for conducting and sharing so much detailed research on Tuke Emigrants from Belmullet!!!
Yes, Upper Camus in Ros Muc and thank you.
Geraldine, my grandmother's name is also Heavern, and she was born in Falmore, on the Mullet peninsula. Also, hello to Diane, too.
